Scanning 8
Scanning 8
Watch scanning 8 HDToday. This is a continuing series of performances in silent film, in which John carries a Super 8 projector on his shoulder before the audience and moves the projected image around him, all over the walls and the ceiling, following the camera movements that appear in the film. Inspired by a projection by Anne B. Walters held at The Funnel Experimental Film Theatre Gallery (Toronto) in 1981. Scanning 8 is a new version of Scanning 5 with the same movements and the same performer, David Anderson, but in a different location: Roundhouse Park on Bremner Boulevard in central Toronto.
